We gave her a prune for Christmas...

We got to my parents' house the Tuesday night before Christmas around 9:30. After unloading all of our stuff, we joined in the game of Phase 10 my parents, sister, and brother-in-law were playing. We immediately gave my mom her first gift....

She wasn't really sure what to make of it. After all, who gives a prune as a gift?!? Her first thoughts were something to do with health/nutrition. We played a few more hands of cards and then she decided she'd just eat the prune. So we waited until we had played a few more hands and then gave her her second gift...

and this was her reaction....

to this...

We enlarged a picture of the positive pregnancy test! She admitted that at first she thought it was a picture of a pill or something, lol! She, along with everyone else, was pretty surprised and excited. Needless to say, the rest of the week a lot of our conversations were about baby ;)

*I forgot to put that the prune was representative of how big the baby was at the time*

I told my mom and sister that I wanted them to help me come up with a way to tell the extended family. Cari suggested making a "Big Cousin" shirt for Calloway to wear, but since that had already been done, I wanted something different and really wanted to include my other cousins - Brianna, Lauren, and Sophia. Then, mom mentioned something about doing shirts that said "Cousin 1", "Cousin 2", etc. (like Thing 1 & Thing 2). Eventually, I decided on just doing numbers 1-6 and then putting the 7 on my shirt also. I chose each person's (well, at least Cari, Brianna, & Lauren's) favorite color for their shirt - I'm not sure Sophia and Calloway have a favorite color yet...

So, after eating dinner on Thursday night, I pulled all the girls into the back bedroom and gave them their shirt to put on. Brianna was asking what she was going to have to do- "I'm not going to have to sing or anything, right?" I told her no, that all she had to do was wear the shirt. I also told her to look at all of them and see if she could figure it out. She got it after a couple of seconds. So, we sent Sophia and Calloway back to the living room. A few minutes later, we sent Brianna and Lauren out. Then Cari and I went a couple of minutes later.

My Aunt LeAnn was sitting closest to the door and said, "Why do you have a 2 & a 7 on your shirt? Ohhhhh...."  My other Aunt Susan said, "Nu uh!!!!!" I think by that time most everyone else had figured it out too, except for Granny. We had to all line up in order and then Susan had to kind of help her figure it out. It was a fun way to share the news and see everyone's reactions!

We wanted to tell both sides in person before letting any other people know, so we had to give a disclaimer to all of my family that they had to keep it quiet until we were able to tell Wyatt's family. We went to Texas on Thursday for New Year's and also for a wedding of a friend of mine on Saturday. We were able to have lunch with his mom and sister on Friday. We decided to just give all of them cards. His mom's said, "You're expecting a grandchild!!!" and this was her reaction....

along with, "I knew it, I knew it!" I guess Wyatt had said something about me not feeling well one morning and that got her to thinking. She is definitly excited since this is their first grandchild and already talking about turning one of their rooms into the baby's room. Wyatt's sister got there a little later and we gave her a card that said, "For my aunt" and then wrote on the inside that her niece or nephew couldn't wait to meet her in July. We didn't get a picture of her, but she is really excited too and said we were going to have such a pretty baby! Then his mom and dad came over Saturday morning to exchange Christmas presents and we gave his dad a card that said, 'Grandma and Grandpa". At first he jokingly said he wasn't sure who the card was for, since he wasn't a grandpa and then he told us congrats. We didn't get to see Wyatt's brother, but we got him a card that said, "Uncle".

A few other details.....
~ We took the home pregnancy test the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, but wanted to wait until after the first doctor's appointment before telling.
~ It was VERY hard to not tell anyone!!!!
~ Especially when I was feeling terrible, but couldn't tell my mom!
~ I'm about 10 1/2 weeks now
~ We are just praying for a healthy baby - there are pros to it being a boy or girl, and since I'm indecisive I'm not going to pick which I 'want' it to be ;)
~ My due date is July 27 - which is kinda cool that my shirt # was 27 and I was 27 when I got pregnant
~ I've pretty much had morning, noon, and night sickness since about 6 weeks - FYI- it's no fun, especially since I'm a flight instructor and can't run to the bathroom at anytime!
~We REALLY need our house to sell, 'cause I don't think there's room to add anyone else in this one, so please pray that it sells and that we find one
~ That's all I can think of....
other than....

We are soooooo EXCITED!!!!!!
