13 Weeks & Advice Needed

Pregnancy Highlights:

How Far Along: 13 weeks
Size of Baby W: Peach
Total Weight Gain/Loss: 0
Maternity Clothes: Not yet
Gender: Can't wait to find out! Found out today we won't find out until March :-(
Movement: Not yet
What I Miss: Comfortably sleeping on my stomach
Cravings: A really good salad and apples (after Pastor's message Sunday night - he used apples as a visual aid)
*Wyatt's Cravings: Pickles!! At least 2 days this week he told me he was craving pickles, lol!*
Symptoms: Some indigestion and headaches
Best Moment This Week: Getting to hear the heartbeat today!!! I think she said the rate was 164, and we even heard a few kicks!

Let me start out by emphasizing the new *highlight* above - I thought it was so funny when he told me, so I wanted to share it with you guys! We had our second appointment today. We were looking forward to hearing the heartbeat and maybe getting another ultrasound, and hopefully pictures this time. We got to hear the heartbeat, but had to schedule the ultrasound because it was completely booked today. So, we get to do that next Tuesday! Neither one of us can wait to see our baby again and get some pictures!

This week has been pretty good; I've definitly been feeling much better. I have had some indigestion off and on, but I'm glad it hasn't been an every day thing. I've had more energy and felt like doing more around the house. I did FINALLY get all the Christmas stuff taken down last night and Wyatt helped to put everything in the attic. I decided that since I was late getting everything decorated, then I could take a little longer to take it all down. ;) The house has been overdue for a good cleaning so I'm hoping to get that accomplished this weekend - assuming it doesn't disappear in the blink of an eye like last weekend.

Wyatt and I decided that it might be a good idea to start buying diapers every time we go grocery shopping so we'll have a good stash by July. We did our grocery shopping Saturday afternoon and came to the baby section. We headed toward the diaper aisle. After a few seconds staring at all the different brands, styles, sizes, and such, I think we were both a little (ok, a lot) overwhelmed!!! So, we looked at each other and said, "You want to just wait until next week to start?" Hahaha! We have no idea where to even start, so we need your help. What brands, sizes, etc. do all of you that are 'experienced' in this area recommend? And where have you found to be the best place to purchase diapers?

I hope everyone has a good rest of the week!!!

Congrats on the pregnancy! What a cute way you told with the number shirts!!

I love Huggies diapers! Pampers are good too and is what the hospital used but for some reason I just always went to huggies supreme. The huggies dry fit are good too just not as soft! The huggies supreme are soft and hold good! I would buy a few packs of newborns but not too many since they go to sz 1 so fast!

I always get diapers at walmart and usualy have a huggies coupon!

If you're having a baby shower then don't get anything just yet, cuz everyone else will get them for you!
I use LUVS and Pampers. Both real good and won't leak! And I only went through 2 packages of the newborns, so don't buy too much! But do get ALOT of wipes! Never have too much of those, you can even use them when your kid is older to clean up messes! Hope this helps!

We had the best luck with Huggies and the Sam's Brand. I'd buy them in a size 1 or 2, since you will probably get a lot in the smaller sizes. : )

I've used Huggies "Supreme" (I don't think they call them that any more) for all our babies and they work the best. They're the ones in the solid red packages, and you'll need some of every size (mine stayed in 1's and 2's the longest) I would definitely start buying up wipes too. The best ones I've found are the sensitive skin off brands (Target is cheapest) they're really soft!

We love Pampers Swaddlers! We used several packages of newborn diapers, but they will quickly move to size 1's. Coupons are the key to cheaper diapers...and the bigger the package the cheaper the diapers! We started buying for Miles while I was pregnant, and it was so nice not to buy diapers for several months! Congratulations, Libby!

I use Pampers Swaddlers for Claire. I found that they are softer than huggies. As far as wipes, I usually buy whatever is on sale. I go for the natural care in whatever brand. They have no fragrance and are very gentle on their little behinds. :) I buy my diapers at Sam's. More for your money, although walmart has good prices as well. Hope this helps! Congrats & happy baby baking. :)

So you will definitely get a TON of opinions when it comes to diapers.. HEre's what worked for us.. Kyah actually had a HORRIBLE reaction to Target brand diapers. I'm pretty sure some other brands have the same material/chemical in them that causes this, but the only two diapers that we have found work for Kyah are LUVS and Parent's choice.. PC has come a long way even since we started using diapers on Kyah. The great thing about showers are you will get tons of different kind of diapers so you will get to see what you and baby like best!!! I would suggest just sticking the money in an extra account to make a "diaper" fund! That way you are already contributing and you can buy them once you know what works best.. I would say the same for wipes too.... I never in a million years thought I'd have a sensitive skin child, but I've learned it is quite common! :) Hope this helps! Also,diapers.com is pretty cool too if you can set up an acct now you can start earning $ towards diapers or other purchases there too!

We used Pampers Swaddlers and I bought them at Babies R Us in HUGE boxes because buying in bulk is easier. As far as wipes go, I just bought whatever was the cheapest. I mostly bought these at Wal-Mart. Luckily Cal didn't have any problems with these diapers or diaper rashes. But wait on buying them because you will get tons of diapers at your baby showers and you can't really predict how many boxes of which size you will you need. I think we only wore one box of newborns and then we were in size 1s for awhile....but it varies per kid.

Lib,

I think you should strongly consider cloth diapers. I know that sounds funny, but today's cloth diapers are not your grandmother's cloth! I used cloth (primarily at home) with Sophia, and loved them.

I personally recommend the 'all in one' style, as they were more convenient for me. You should check out a line called Charlie Banana. They are the best of both worlds - cloth and disposable. It's a cloth diaper with both reusable (cloth) inserts, as well as disposable inserts for trips, on the go, at the sitter, etc.

We have a great store here in Fayetteville that I'd love to take you to the next time you're over for a visit. They have a wide variety of styles and types that you can look at in person. I also still have some of Sophia's cloth diapers that you can look at if you want. Cloth diapers tend to cause fewer diaper rashes, feel comfortable for your baby, and are MUCH more environmentally friendly than disposables.

By the way...when we did use disposables, we used Huggies. I wouldn't buy too many of the newborn size. You'll probably get a lot of those at your shower, and you'd be surprised how fast that little guy (or gal!) will outgrow them!

Love you!

I used Birdseye Diapers-one size fits all, just depends on how you folded them! I only needed 3 dozen, just washed them every other day. We couldn't afford disposable ones, but wouldn't have mattered my girls had sensitive skin. As for wet wipes- a warm wet wash cloth worked wonders! Guess you could say I was "going green" and didn't know it! Love ya, Monna
